Podcasting & Other Audio Tools

Why not give your students something extra to listen to this summer ?

What is podcasting?

The term podcasting refers to 'downloadable audio on the Internet' These are files you and your students can take off the Web and listen to using an mp3 player or mobile phone, etc.

Why podcasting?

Finding podcasts for your students to listen to can bring new voices into the classroom and the wide selection of topics means you can guide your students to extra listening that they are interested in.

Where can I find them?

The easiest place to start is by downloading iTunes, free music software - there's a special section on podcasts in the iTunes Music store and you can download them for free.

So far we have been talking about using podcasts for listening, but you can also easily create podcasts with your students using tools such as http://www.podomatic.com

If this isn't your cup of tea, then you might want to check out http://www.chinswing.com instead, which is a collaborative voice forum and lots of fun.
